Chattanooga, TN – A major narcotics investigation led by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) resulted in the arrest of a Chattanooga man and the seizure of fentanyl, firearms, and cash during a search warrant executed earlier this week.

On June 4, 2025, detectives with the HCSO Narcotics and Special Investigations Unit—assisted by the SWAT team—conducted a search at a residence located at 4634 Ruby Red Drive. The operation targeted Lavon Watkins, 27, the subject of an ongoing investigation into illegal drug activity.

Watkins was taken into custody without incident. During the search, investigators recovered approximately 104 grams (0.2 pounds) of fentanyl, valued at around $12,000, along with $3,204 in cash. Three firearms were also seized, including a Mini Draco rifle (7.62×39), a Smith & Wesson M&P .380 pistol, and a Glock 26 9mm pistol. Multiple items of drug paraphernalia were also collected as evidence.

Watkins was transported to the Hamilton County Jail and charged with the following:

  • Possession of Fentanyl for Resale

  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

  • Possession of a Weapon During a Felony

  • Reckless Endangerment of a Child

According to the HCSO, the Department of Children’s Services was notified after it was determined that children were present in the home and in proximity to the fentanyl.

Sheriff Austin Garrett issued a warning to others potentially connected to the case. “If you were involved either in selling or purchasing narcotics from Watkins, you can expect a visit from us soon,” he stated.

Officials say further charges against Watkins are possible as the investigation continues.
