Chattanooga, TN – A group of curious and energetic homeschool students recently had the opportunity to explore the inner workings of the Chattanooga Police Department during a special tour of the Police Services Center, guided by Sgt. Miller and other department members.

The visit provided students with a unique, firsthand look at various aspects of police work and public safety. One of the highlights was a stop at the department’s Real Time Intelligence Center, where students learned how officers use technology to monitor and respond to incidents across the city in real time.

The group also met several K9 officers, affectionately renaming one of them “Officer Bark,” adding a lighthearted moment to the day.

Students were thrilled to interact with equipment typically seen only on television. They sat on police motorbikes, handled SWAT gear, and engaged in a lively Q&A session with officers, who enthusiastically answered a wide range of questions about law enforcement and community safety.

The Chattanooga Police Department regularly offers educational tours like this one to foster community engagement and educate young people about law enforcement.

For schools or homeschool groups interested in scheduling a visit, the department encourages reaching out via email at cpdcommunications@chattanooga.gov to coordinate a convenient time.
