Tennessee – Lieutenant Colonel Tim Spicer has been promoted to a new leadership role at the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) following a distinguished 25-year career in law enforcement.

Spicer, a native of McMinnville, Tennessee, has steadily climbed through the ranks, earning a reputation for his dedication and leadership. In his new position, Spicer will oversee THP’s statewide operations, ensuring the safety of Tennessee’s roadways and communities.

“Tim Spicer has dedicated his career to serving and protecting the people of Tennessee, and his leadership has been instrumental in shaping the Tennessee Highway Patrol,” said THP Colonel Matt Perry.

“His promotion to lieutenant colonel is well-earned, and I have full confidence in his ability to help lead this agency forward. His experience, work ethic, and commitment to our mission make him an outstanding choice for this role.”

Spicer’s career at THP began in Grundy County, where he quickly earned recognition as a dedicated road trooper. Over the years, he has taken on increasing leadership roles, including serving as administrative sergeant in Hamilton County, leading the Special Investigations Bureau’s Identity Crimes Unit, and advancing through various ranks to captain and major. Most recently, he served as major overseeing multiple THP districts before being promoted to lieutenant colonel.

As lieutenant colonel, Spicer will oversee THP’s Field Operations Bureau, which covers eight districts and four regional dispatch centers, working alongside other lieutenant colonels in the agency.
