Man held his anger toward his former friend for years before he asked her if she would accompany him on drrug deliveries only to take her to the mountains and kill her because he believed she got him removed from schooI; sentenced
Los Angeles, CA – According to the court documents, the 23-year-old defendant, later identified as Oven, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after he killed 16-year-old Arenda several years ago. The defendant learned his fate after jury convicted him of murder in the first degree earlier this year. Prosecutors claim the defendant killed the 16-year-old girl, whose remains were never recovered, back in 2019. Authorities believe the victim was buried in the mountains where the defendant took her life.
The fatal incident occurred in January 2019, court records say. Prosecutors claim the defendant picked the woman around 5 p.m. on the fatal day. One hour later, the defendant texted his brother ‘to get shovels ready’. The defendant and his older sibling, 27-year-old Garry, headed for the mountains. The brother was initially charged with murder, but later peladed guilty to accessory after the fact and was sentenced to one year in the county jail.
During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the motive for the murder goes back years before the girl was killed. Both the victim and the defendant were friends who attended the same school. Two years before the murder, both the victim and the defendant were at a party at a local park. Shortly after, when attendance officer broke up the party, the defendant threw a handgun, he was carrying, to the victim and told her to hide it. The victim then tried to hide the gun in a drainage canal only to be caught by the officer. When authorities interviewed the girl, she reportedly admitted that the defendant threw the gun and told her to get rid of it.
Several months later, both the victim and the defendant were expelled from the school. The defendant was forced to move with his dad, more than 50 miles away. Prosecutors claim the defendant believed the victim was responsible he got expeIIed. Earlier this year, when the defendant was convicted, he called his family member and asked the man if ‘should get a tmedal for being a convicted murderer’. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the defendant asked the victim is ‘she would accompany him on drug deliveries and ride along as he robs drug dealers. For whatever reason, the girl agreed and that’s when she was last seen alive.
