Chattanooga, TN – According to the statement, Red Shift companies responded to reports of a commercial fire in the 1700 block of North Orchard Knob Avenue. Upon arrival, they observed heavy smoke coming from the building’s eaves and flames venting through a window.

Firefighters entered the structure to battle the flames and conduct a search, navigating through heavy debris inside. The building comprised a business office and a separate bedroom.

During a secondary search, firefighters found one victim on the floor, partially covered by debris. They carried the individual outside and immediately began CPR before transporting them to the hospital. The victim sustained significant smoke inhalation injuries and some burns.

Fire crews continued their firefighting efforts, containing the fire to the office area and bringing it under control within 20 minutes. After extinguishing hot spots, they proceeded with overhaul operations. The fire’s cause remains under investigation.

Multiple units responded, including Engine 4, Ladder 5, Engine 5, Squad 1, Ladder 1, Engine 1, Engine 6, Engine 15, Engine 16, Engine 9, Engine 12, Ladder 13, Engine 10, Squad 19, Battalion 1, Battalion 2, Battalion 3, along with CFD Investigations, CFD Supply, CPD, and HCEMS. Investigators have confirmed that the victim is in critical but stable condition.
