One person rescued after boat fire on the Tennessee River near Chickamauga Marina
Chattanooga, TN – One person is safe following a boat fire that broke out on the Tennessee River Wednesday evening near the Chickamauga Marina Boat Ramp.
At approximately 5:08 p.m. on May 14, Hamilton County 911 began receiving multiple reports of a boat engulfed in flames with heavy black smoke visible in the area of 2900 Kings Point Road. Chattanooga Fire Department (Blue Shift units quickly responded to the scene and located the burning vessel between the boat ramp and the nearby swimming area.
CFD Fire Boat 6 was deployed and successfully extinguished the fire. According to officials, one person was aboard the boat at the time and jumped into the water to escape. The individual was rescued by another nearby boat and was uninjured.
Battalion 2, Battalion 3, and Assistant Chief Andrews also responded to assist with the emergency response. Tow Boat USA managed the recovery of the damaged vessel.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident.
