Tennessee – Drivers traveling on SR 2, also known as Cummings Highway, should prepare for a temporary road closure on Monday, July 14, 2025.

Tennessee Department of Transportation maintenance crews will close the highway between Raccoon Mountain Road and Holder Lane from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to replace a drainpipe beneath the roadway.

Message boards have been placed to alert motorists of the upcoming closure, and first responders and emergency personnel have been notified. Uniformed police officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control and enforcement during the work.

Motorists are advised to use caution, expect delays, and plan for possible detours. The project is weather-dependent, and any delays caused by adverse conditions will result in rescheduling.

TDOT encourages travelers to “Know Before You Go” by checking current road conditions on the TDOT SmartWay Map or by calling 511 for statewide travel information. Drivers are reminded to stay focused on the road and avoid distractions such as texting or talking on cell phones while driving.

The Move Over Law, passed in Tennessee in 2006, requires motorists to move over or slow down when approaching emergency vehicles on the roadside. Violations carry penalties of up to 30 days in jail and fines up to $500.
