Road repairs, temporary closures, and traffic improvements announced across multiple neighborhoods in Chattanooga
Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga officials announced a series of road repairs, temporary closures, and traffic improvements across the city to address infrastructure needs and neighborhood safety concerns.
Repairs to Heritage Landing Drive have required an alternative route into the Heritage Landing neighborhood via Barton Avenue, McFarland Avenue, Winston Road, and Dennis Road. City officials are conducting an expedited traffic study to determine additional traffic and increases in speeding. In response to community feedback, temporary speed humps will be installed once the study is complete at the following locations:

Sterling Avenue between McFarland Avenue and Dennis Road

Several construction closures and lane restrictions are also in effect:

108 Tremont Street: Tremont Street between Frazier Avenue and River Street is closed immediately for emergency sewer and stormwater repairs. Contractors estimate the closure will last 1–2 weeks.

2300 Block of Hickory Valley Road: Lane reductions will occur from Tuesday, Aug. 26, through Monday, Sept. 8, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily to address slope failure and clear drainage ditches.

Central Avenue at Halsey Street: Closed Tuesday, Aug. 26, through Friday, Aug. 29, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily for emergency stormwater infrastructure repair.

3801 Alton Park Blvd at 38th Street: Single-lane closures in the 3800 block will occur from Wednesday, Aug. 27, through Friday, Sept. 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily for gas main repair.

501 W 12th Street: The 500 block will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 27, through Friday, Aug. 29, for new sewer installation, with detours posted.
Officials encouraged residents to follow posted detours, observe temporary traffic controls, and plan for delays while work continues.
