Manchester, N.H. – According to the court documents, the 47-year-old son, later identified as Thomas, was sentenced to 40 years to life behind bars after for his role in the death of his 70-year-old mom Linda. Prosecutors say the defendant pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, arson and was sentenced this week.
During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the 47-year-old son was living in his mom’s basement. The fatal incident occurred in early December last year. Prosecutors said the son reportedly stabbed the elderly woman more than 20 times and nearly ‘removed her head’ after he and his mom got into an argument about the volume at which he was playing a video game.
During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the 47-year-old defendant was playing the gaming console his mom gifted before the two started arguing about how loud the son’s game was. The 47-year-old son then got angry, grabbed a knife and stabbed his mom more than 20 times. Shortly after the killing, the defendant lit the woman’s body on fire.
The responding officers reportedly found the 47-year-old defendant suffering from self-inflicted stab wounds. Police officials also said that the 47-year-old son was previously kicked out of his parents’ house and the parents recently allowed him to move back in.
