Two-alarm apartment fire in downtown Chattanooga sends two to hospital
Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Fire Department reported that a two-alarm fire at 500 W Martin Luther King Boulevard early on December 7, 2025, sent two residents to the hospital.
At 12:11 a.m., Red Shift companies responded after multiple alerts were received from the high-rise tower’s fire alarm system. Firefighters found a fire in the trash chute that filled multiple floors with smoke.
A second alarm brought additional crews to assist with smoke ventilation and the evacuation of residents.
Chattanooga Police and Hamilton County EMS also assisted with the response. By 12:41 a.m., the fire was extinguished, and ventilation continued.
Two residents were treated for smoke inhalation, one firefighter was checked for exhaustion, and five residents were temporarily displaced but were placed in other rooms within the tower.
Multiple CFD units, including engines, ladders, squads, and battalions, responded to the fire to ensure a coordinated effort.
