Chattanooga, TN – An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a homicide that took place early on July 20, 2025, in Chattanooga. Malik Allen was taken into custody following an investigation into the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy in the 1700 block of Read Avenue.
According to Chattanooga Police Department (CPD), officers responded to reports of shots fired just after midnight. Upon arrival, officers heard additional gunfire and found the victim with a fatal gunshot wound. Multiple individuals were detained at the scene.
The CPD Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit quickly began investigating the incident. After conducting interviews and gathering evidence, the department secured arrest warrants charging Malik Allen with second-degree murder.
He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.
Police have described the information as preliminary and have asked anyone with further details to contact the department. Authorities also reminded the public that charges are accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
