22-year-old man charged in connection with shooting at intersection of 46th Avenue North and Charlotte Avenue
Nashville, TN – According to the police officials, 22-year-old man previously free on a $40,000 bond from an October 6 aggravated robbery arrest is back in custody, this time charged in connection with a daylight shooting on October 18 at the intersection of 46th Avenue North and Charlotte Avenue. The incident left a teenager critically injured.
James Claybrooks, 22, was identified by Specialized Investigations Division detectives as the driver of the vehicle involved in the shooting. According to police, the suspect car had followed a Ford Focus carrying the victims along Charlotte Avenue. As the vehicles approached the intersection, a passenger in Claybrooks’ car opened fire on the Ford. The driver, a 23-year-old woman, was unharmed, while her rear passenger, an 18-year-old male, was critically injured in the attack.
The investigation was advanced significantly after the suspect vehicle was detected by a license plate reader in Lebanon, providing detectives with valuable leads. Authorities are now pursuing the identity of the shooter.
Claybrooks has been charged with two counts of attempted criminal homicide, reckless endangerment, and aggravated reckless driving. He is being held on an $80,000 bond.
His earlier arrest for aggravated robbery stemmed from an August 1 incident at a CVS Pharmacy on Gallatin Avenue, where Claybrooks and two other masked suspects allegedly stole various medications before fleeing.
Police have not released further details as the investigation into the October 18 shooting continues.
