Chattanooga, TN – During the recent July 4th holiday weekend, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Team actively patrolled local waterways to promote safety and prevent accidents.
Sheriff Austin Garrett and Marine Patrol Deputies encouraged residents and visitors to be respectful, patient, and make responsible choices while on the water.
They emphasized the importance of never operating vehicles or boats under the influence.
“Use an alternative, such as a designated driver or ride service, to avoid risking your safety or the safety of others,” Sheriff Garrett said prior to the holiday.
Deputies were committed to enforcing laws and removing impaired drivers and boat operators from roadways and waterways to protect the community.
The department thanked the public for cooperating and helping to ensure a safe and enjoyable July 4th weekend for everyone.
