Chattanooga, TN – K-9 Sully of the Chattanooga Police Department spent his seventh birthday earlier this week assisting in a search following an armed robbery. According to police, Sully and his handler were called after suspects ran into a wooded area.

During the search, Sully located a firearm hidden in the brush. Investigators said the discovery was significant because it removed a weapon that could have been found by another criminal or even a child.

The victim in the armed robbery was not physically injured. The case remains under investigation under the direction of the department’s Robbery Unit.

Police noted that Sully’s find demonstrates how different units within the department work together to protect the community. They also expressed gratitude to Spike’s K9 Fund and K9 Storm Inc. for providing protective vests that help safeguard Sully during missions.

The department emphasized that K-9 Sully’s work was an example of training and teamwork leading to tangible results, highlighting his role in ensuring that a dangerous weapon is now secured as the investigation continues.
