Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga officials announced that garbage and recycling collection scheduled for Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1, 2025, will take place as normal. Residents are asked to place containers along the curbside by 7 a.m. on collection day to ensure pickup.

While collection services will remain on schedule, several facilities will be closed for the holiday. The Birchwood Landfill and the Wood Recycle Center will be closed Monday and reopen Tuesday, Sept. 2.

The Refuse Collection Centers, Household Hazardous Waste Facility, and Recycle Collection Centers will also be closed Monday and reopen Tuesday.

The Department of Public Works, which oversees these operations, manages a wide range of services vital to Chattanooga residents.

These include the design, construction, and maintenance of city infrastructure, as well as the collection and disposal of garbage, brush, recycling, and household hazardous waste.
