Chattanooga crews respond after tractor-trailer spills diesel across all eastbound I-24 lanes
Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga Fire Department crews responded to a diesel fuel spill from a tractor-trailer that spread across all eastbound lanes of I-24.
The incident was reported at about 5:34 p.m., when crews were dispatched to the interstate following reports of the spill.
The fuel spill affected all eastbound lanes, prompting officials to close the affected roadway while crews worked to contain and clean up the diesel.
The response involved multiple agencies, including the Chattanooga Fire Department, Chattanooga Police Department, Chattanooga Public Works Emergency Services and the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Officials worked together to contain the spill and remove the fuel from the roadway to address the traffic hazard.
At the time of the department’s update, one eastbound lane had been reopened while cleanup operations continued.
The incident caused a temporary disruption for drivers traveling along I-24 East, with motorists in the area advised to use caution while crews remained on scene.
The department did not provide information about any injuries or additional crashes connected to the spill.
