Mom, who completed parenting classes and undergone mental health treatment, regained custody over 3-year-old child only to kill the boy; convicted
Columbus, OHIO – According to the court documents, the 31-year-old mom, later identified as Timeka, is now facing life behind bars after she pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including murder and assault. Prosecutors claim the woman killed her 3-year-old son, Curtis, last year. The little boy was found in baby’s stroller unresponsive and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
The medical examiner told investigators that the child suffered blunt force trauma and his injuries were not accidental, L&C reported. According to the court documents, the victim’s bioIogical mom reportedly killed the boy just 3 months after court removed the boy from foster parent’s custody. Prosecutors also said that the boy was staying with his foster parents for over two years.
Shortly after the fatal incident, the mother was taken into custody. During an interview with investigators, the 31-year-old mom reportedly lied about how her son died. The child’s foster parents reportedly said that the court took the boy away from them, even after they had concerns about the boy’s safety while being with his bioIogical mom.
Prosecutors also said that the court agreed to give the child to his biological mom because she ‘completed parenting classes and had undergone mental health treatment.’ The 3-year-old boy was killed just 3 months after. The 31-year-old mother will be sentenced next month and is facing life in prison, court records say.
