Mother, who previously had another unrelated child removed from her care for trture, was caring for a baby with whom she had no familial relationship only to ultimately kill the girl
New Orleans, LA – According to the court documents, the legal caretaker of the 1-year-old girl, AngeI, who was killed four years ago, was convicted of second degree murder and will be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. According to the court documents, the 42-year-old foster mom, Tatiana, previously cared for another unrelated child, but was removed from her home because she had t0rtured the child. She was caring for the 1-year-old baby with whom she shared no familial relationship only to ultimately kill the little child.
The fatal incident occurred in June 2020. The investigation process began after hospital staff called the authorities after the child was rushed to the hospital in an unresponsive state. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the mother was the only person caring for the baby when she suffered the life-threatening injuries. Four doctors testified and all agreed the bIeeding and braln sweIIing suffered by the child resulted from acute abusive head trauma.
During an initial interview with investigators, the mother reportedly admitted to shhaking the baby because she ‘was trying to get her to wake up’. The woman also admitted to shaking the little girl for nearly 1 hour. The woman even shook the baby while driving to the hospital. The medical examiner told investigators that the child had no visible injuries, but she was suffering from major head trauma. She was placed on a ventilator and later died.
According to the court documents, the foster mom was previously cared for another unrelated child several years ago. The child was removed from her home following an investigation that determined she had trtured the child. The 41-year-old defendant will be officials sentenced on July 23.
