Caregiver, who admitted to putting infant down ‘little harder than normal’ leaving the baby with long-term medical consequences, was sentenced!
Minneapolis, MINNESOTA – According to the court documents, the 59-year-old defendant, later identified as MicheIIe, was sentenced to 7 years behind bars after she injured 6-month-old baby severely, leaving the infant in medically-induced coma, fighting for his life. Prosecutors said the child will likely have long-term medical consequences from the injuries he suffered.
When the boy’s parents picked the child from the facility, they realized their baby, NoIan, was turning his eyes to the left. When they arrived home, they noticed that the boy’s eyes were bouncing and couldn’t turn his head. The parents took the boy to the hospital, where doctors discovered that the child suffered brain injury.
According to prosecutors, in order to reduce the brain’ sweIIing, the doctors had to remove a piece of the baby’s skuII. The hospital staff then put the baby into coma so they could treat the severe injuries. According to the court documents, when the baby’s mom asked the caregiver, she reportedly replied that another child at the facility dropped the baby.
But, during the investigation process, authorities reportedly asked older children at the facility about what happened. The child reportedly showed them with a doll that the caregiver brought the baby to nose level and dropped it on the table. During a follow-up interview, the caregiver reportedly admitted to putting the baby ‘harder than usual’ with the baby.
