CFD announces graduation of Fire Academy 2024 as 23 cadets completed the rigorous six-month training to become the newest members of the department
Chattanooga, TN – According to the statement, the cadets underwent Emergency Medical Technician training and received instruction in various aspects of the fire service from experienced, veteran firefighters.
The Training Division provided comprehensive education on fire department operations, fire attack, fire growth and development, fire suppression, and search and rescue techniques.
The cadets mastered a wide range of skills, including hazardous materials response, vehicle extrication, rope rescues, ventilation, and survival tactics.
They learned essential strategies for saving fellow downed firefighters and how to extricate themselves if they ever become trapped, disoriented, or separated from their crew.
This graduating class is a diverse group of men and women eager to serve the citizens of Chattanooga and respond to emergencies.
The academy was unique this year, as the department’s new training tower is still under construction.
The cadets traveled to various locations, including the Catoosa County Fire Department’s training grounds, to ensure they received comprehensive, hands-on training.
