Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Fire Department gathered a large number of food donations during its Fill the Boat event this week, working alongside Food City to support local families in need during the holiday season.

Shoppers contributed generously, filling the department’s swiftwater rescue boats with much-needed items.

The donations will support the department in its annual food fight against the Chattanooga Police Department as both agencies work to benefit the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. According to the department, the community’s response throughout the day made a significant impact.

For those who were unable to donate during the event, collection boxes remain available at every Chattanooga fire station, as well as at Fire Administration on Wisdom Street and the Training Center on Amnicola Highway.

The final collection day is scheduled for Friday, December 13, when all items will be delivered to the food bank to be weighed for the friendly competition. A QR code for financial contributions was also provided by the department.

The Chattanooga Fire Department thanked the community for its support and expressed appreciation to Food City for hosting the event.
