CFD crews responded to vehicle fire on I-75 northbound near Ooltewah exit, no injuries reported
Chattanooga, TN – A camper being towed by a wrecker caught fire Friday evening on I-75 Northbound just before the Ooltewah exit, prompting a response from multiple fire departments during rush hour traffic.
Chattanooga Fire Department’s Squad 7 Blue Shift, along with units from the Tri-Community Fire Department, arrived on scene to find the camper fully engulfed in flames.
The incident occurred during peak traffic hours, causing temporary congestion in the area as emergency crews worked to extinguish the blaze.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries in the incident. However, the camper was declared a total loss. The towing vehicle sustained some damage from the fire but remained operable.
Authorities have not yet released the cause of the fire. Firefighters were able to contain the situation quickly, and no additional vehicles were involved.
Traffic returned to normal after the scene was cleared.
