Chattanooga Fire Department conducts advanced extrication training to prepare crews for complex motor vehicle accidents
Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Fire Department recently held advanced squad training exercises designed to strengthen firefighter response to motor vehicle accidents requiring extrication.
Over the past week, squad companies gathered at the department’s training center for a drill that intentionally limited their workspace.
The exercise challenged firefighters to adapt their rescue plans and problem-solve under restrictive conditions.
Department officials explained that no two extrication incidents are the same, making it essential for firefighters to develop versatile skills.
By training with constraints on equipment, time, and space, crews practiced critical thinking strategies needed to manage complex real-world emergencies.
The training is part of CFD’s ongoing effort to prepare its personnel for the wide range of rescue scenarios they face each year.
