Chattanooga Fire Department reflects on 2024 achievements, looks ahead to 2025
Chattanooga, TN – With upgraded technology, new vehicles, and modern facilities, the Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) is ready for 2025. In 2024, CFD responded to over 23,000 calls, including 400+ structure fires, 7,800 EMS calls, and 1,861 motor vehicle crashes, saving over $404 million in property.
The department received a new quint, ladder truck, brush trucks, and UTVs, with additional vehicles expected in 2025. A $3 million training tower is nearing completion, and the new $5 million Station 15 in Eastdale opened in October.
Plans for a replacement Station 14 in St. Elmo are progressing, with groundbreaking anticipated in 2025.
CFD’s swiftwater rescue team is operational, and a wildland fire team is being developed. Health and safety initiatives continue, with expanded cancer screenings planned for 2025.
Chief Phil Hyman thanked the department’s partners and supporters, highlighting the strides made in 2024 and the department’s commitment to serving the growing Chattanooga community in the year ahead.
