Chattanooga, TN – In recognition of Gun Violence Awareness Month, the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) is intensifying its efforts to combat gun violence through community-driven initiatives and strategic partnerships. Gun violence remains a critical issue nationwide, and Chattanooga is no exception. CPD is committed to working alongside the community to achieve a safer future for all.

This summer, CPD is collaborating with Mayor Tim Kelly and the Downtown Chattanooga Alliance to ensure safety in the Downtown area. Members of the 423 Chain Breakers will engage with youth during summer nights, aiming to prevent violence and criminal activities.

Furthermore, CPD has reinforced its partnership with the City of Chattanooga’s Office of Community Health. By leveraging data from CPD’s Intelligence Unit, Interventionists can identify individuals and groups most at risk of gun violence. These efforts focus on trauma-informed, intensive communication and outreach to create a safer environment for all residents.

Together, as a united community, we have the power to make a positive impact and strive towards a safer, more secure Chattanooga.
