Chattanooga police officer under internal investigation following his arrest on a domestic assault charge
Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Police Department has launched an internal investigation into an officer assigned to the Criminal Investigations Bureau following his arrest on a domestic assault charge.
On March 24, 2025, around 1:50 a.m., Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported domestic assault near the 3900 block of Weathervane Loop.
According to investigators, the incident began as a verbal argument before escalating to physical violence, with the officer allegedly striking the victim and destroying the victim’s phone.
The suspect left the scene in a city-issued vehicle but was later located in a parking lot on East Brainerd Road, where he was arrested without incident. He was transported to the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center and charged with domestic assault.
Upon notification of the arrest, Chattanooga police officials took possession of the officer’s city-issued gear and patrol vehicle. He will be placed on administrative leave following his release from jail as the investigation continues.
