Chattanooga police officers prepare for 800-mile cycling tour to honor fallen officers
Chattanooga, TN – A team of five Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) officers is gearing up for an 800-mile cycling journey in honor of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. This ride is part of the 2025 Law Enforcement United (LEU) Road to Hope, a national event that unites officers from across the country to pay tribute to fallen colleagues and support their families.
The CPD team, which has raised over $17,000 for the cause, will depart from Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 6:30 a.m., beginning their journey towards Roanoke, Virginia. Once in Roanoke, they will join other LEU riders before continuing on to Washington, D.C. for National Police Week.
This challenging route is one of the most demanding in the LEU program, both in distance and elevation. The cyclists will be supported by three officers from the CPD Motor Unit, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and motor units from Tucson, Arizona, who will accompany them for the duration of the ride. Once the team enters Virginia, Virginia State Police will provide additional assistance to ensure safety and logistical support for all riders.
The annual LEU Road to Hope ride raises funds and awareness for programs supporting the families of fallen officers. For the CPD cyclists, this ride holds deep significance, providing a way to honor their fallen peers while strengthening bonds within the law enforcement community.
The public is invited to attend the departure ceremony at Ross’ Landing in Chattanooga, where media will have opportunities for interviews and to capture the event on camera. Updates on the ride’s progress will be shared through the CPD’s social media channels.
With their participation in this monumental event, the Chattanooga Police Department officers are paying tribute to the sacrifices made by law enforcement professionals across the nation. Their journey is a physical challenge, but more importantly, it is a powerful demonstration of solidarity and respect for those who have given their lives in service.
