Tennessee – Tennessee National Guardsmen assigned to the Memphis Safe Task Force, alongside the Memphis Police Department, responded to two separate shooting incidents on April 16, providing immediate medical assistance to multiple victims.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., Guardsmen from the 278th Cavalry Regiment assisted officers at a shooting at a shopping center on Knight Arnold Road in Southeast Memphis. Officials said troops rendered first aid to three victims suffering from gunshot wounds, working alongside police and emergency medical services to control severe bleeding and stabilize each individual before transport to a hospital.

Shortly after that response, the same Guardsmen were dispatched to a second shooting at an East Memphis apartment complex near Stribling Street. Upon arrival, they located a critically injured victim with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body and provided emergency aid, including bleeding control, until emergency medical personnel arrived and transported the victim for further treatment.

Following both incidents, additional Guardsmen remained on scene to assist law enforcement with securing the areas, gathering witness statements, and supporting evidence collection efforts.

Lt. Col. Jimmie Holland, commander of the 278th Cavalry Regiment, said the soldiers acted quickly under pressure to provide critical care and support local first responders.

Officials said the Tennessee National Guard continues to support the Memphis Safe Task Force in coordination with local law enforcement agencies.
