Elizabethton Driver Services Center to reopen April 14 with updated facilities and new self-service kiosks
Tennessee – The Department of Safety and Homeland Security announced that the Elizabethton Driver Services Center, located at 1741 Hwy 19E Bypass, will reopen to the public on Monday, April 14.
The center had been closed for an extended period due to storm damage caused by Hurricane Helene.
Starting April 14, the facility will resume normal operating hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time. During the closure, a mobile Driver Services unit had been operating out of the Elizabethton Municipal Building at 136 S Sycamore Street.
That mobile service ended operations on Thursday, April 10. Any appointments previously scheduled at the mobile unit will be honored at the reopened Driver Services Center.
The newly refurbished Elizabethton location includes several upgrades aimed at improving customer experience. Visitors can expect to see new furniture, freshly painted walls, updated flooring, and upgraded credentialing equipment.
Additionally, new self-service kiosks have been installed to streamline common Driver Services transactions.
The kiosks allow users to renew or replace a driver license or ID card, update address and emergency contact information, advance a Teen/Graduated Driver License, pay reinstatement fees, or request a license reissue after meeting reinstatement requirements. The kiosks are also equipped with photo capabilities and accept payments via Apple Pay, Google Pay, and major credit or debit cards.
The reopening marks a full return to service for the Elizabethton Driver Services Center following the damage sustained during Hurricane Helene.
