Chattanooga, TN – Drivers traveling on I-24 in Hamilton County should be aware of upcoming roadway activities that will impact traffic.

From 9:00 pm to 6:00 am ET each night through Friday morning, utility contract crews will close the inside lane of I-24 from mile marker 177 to mile marker 183 (Moccasin Bend to Germantown Road) for repairs to the interstate lighting system.

Work will occur in both directions, though not on the same night.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution and expect delays in the work zone. Signage will be posted to direct drivers. This work is weather-dependent, and if inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances arise, the schedule may be adjusted. Uniformed police officers will assist with traffic control.

As always, drivers should check travel conditions before leaving for their destination and avoid distractions like texting or talking on a cell phone while driving. For the latest updates, use the TDOT SmartWay Map or call 511 for statewide travel information.
