Knoxville, TN – According to the Knoxville Police Department, this incident occurred around 11:40 a.m. Tuesday.
It happened in the 2900 block of Sevier Avenue.
Knoxville Police Department officers attempted to serve a search warrant at a home near James White Parkway in South Knoxville.
Authorities say the responding officers encountered a man who was armed with a gun.
An exchange of gunfire followed.
Police say the suspect was shot at least one time and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No officers were injured in this incident.
