Chattanooga, TN -The Tennessee Department of Education announced the recipients of the 2024-25 Principal of the Year and Supervisor of the Year awards, along with two state finalists for the Recognizing Inspiring School Employees (RISE) award.

Commissioner Lizzette Reynolds expressed pride in the honorees, stating, “These individuals have played key roles in the success of their teachers and students, and I am proud to have them representing Tennessee.”

Kelley Harrell, principal of John Adams Elementary School in Kingsport City Schools, was named the 2024-25 Principal of the Year. Harrell is committed to supporting educators through professional development, personalized coaching, and leadership opportunities to enhance the learning environment for all students.

Tina Francis, the 2023-24 Principal of the Year, praised Harrell, saying, “This honor is a representation of her hard work and dedication to her school.”

Cathy Pressnell, a reading coordinator for grades 3-6 in Murfreesboro City Schools, was selected as the 2024-25 Supervisor of the Year. Pressnell has implemented literacy plans that have significantly improved student outcomes and classroom performance while fostering teacher development.

The awards recognize outstanding leadership and dedication to advancing education in Tennessee.
