Chattanooga, TN – The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation awarded Wilson County a $20,000 grant through the Brownfield Redevelopment Area Grants (BRAG) program.

The funds will be used in collaboration with the Greater Nashville Regional Council to identify priority sites for redevelopment.

This grant, one of 36 announced in July, comes from the Rural Brownfield Redevelopment Investment Act, which aims to protect the environment and boost economic opportunities, particularly in rural areas.

The act provides resources for the investigation, cleanup, and redevelopment of properties that are underutilized or vacant due to potential contamination.

Brownfield redevelopment addresses environmental risks while encouraging economic growth. The Greater Nashville Regional Council, a regional planning organization serving 13 counties in Middle Tennessee, will assist Wilson County in its efforts to repurpose these sites.
