30-year-old man arrested, charged after Rossville Boulevard shooting sent one person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
Chattanooga, TN – According to the police officials, the shooting occurred in the 2900 block of Rossville Boulevard on September 21, 2024.
At approximately 3:17 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to reports of a person shot in a parking lot. Upon arrival, officers found a 32-year-old man suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.
Chattanooga Fire and Hamilton County EMS arrived at the scene shortly after, with EMS transporting the victim to a local hospital for treatment. CPD’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit were dispatched to investigate and process the scene.
Preliminary findings indicated that a disorder and vehicle crash took place just before the shooting. After shooting the victim, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.
Witnesses at the scene provided a description of the suspect’s vehicle, which officers later located at a separate location. A person matching the suspect’s description was found inside a residence and complied with officers’ requests to exit the home.
Homicide detectives gathered evidence that led to the arrest of 30-year-old Hector Lopez-Garcia.
He was charged with Aggravated Assault, Felony Reckless Endangerment, and Possessing a Firearm with Intent to Go Armed. Lopez-Garcia was taken into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.
