Chattanooga, TN – According to the statement, Blue Shift companies responded to a residence in the 7300 block of Midfield Drive following frantic 911 calls from the 78-year-old occupant, who stated she was trapped and unable to see. Communication with dispatchers was abruptly lost, prompting a second alarm to bring in additional personnel.

Upon arrival, Engine 8’s crew observed smoke coming from the eaves and ridge line of the roof. During a 360 assessment, they noticed heavy smoke billowing from a kitchen window.

Firefighters made entry through the front door, navigating through the home’s contents, and reached the kitchen, where they found the unconscious woman on the floor.

They quickly brought her outside, where Hamilton County EMS provided immediate care before transporting her to the hospital. She remains in critical condition.

While firefighters conducted the rescue, other crews established a water supply, searched the rest of the home, and initiated both vertical and horizontal ventilation to clear smoke from the structure.

The fire, which was contained to the kitchen area, is currently under investigation. No other individuals were found inside the residence.

The response included Engine 8, Squad 7, Ladder 7, Ladder 13, Squad 13, Engine 15, Engine 6, Engine 21, Engine 10, Engine 4, Battalion 1, Battalion 2, and CFD Investigations, alongside CPD, Hamilton County EMS, and EPB.
