Tennessee – A Tennessee man was taken into custody last week charged with first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and using a firearm with intent to commit a feIony. These charges stem from an incident that occurred earlier this year at a local tire shop.

The events leading to the charges began earlier that day when an elderly woman engaged in a physical altercation with the victim, S. Cob, the owner of the shop. According to a complaint affidavit reviewed by L&C, the woman sprayed the victim with pepper spray, and the victim responded by pushing her to the ground.

Several hours later, the defendant, 29-year-old T. Cury, arrived at the shop, inquiring about the owner. Upon being directed to the victim, both the defendant and the victim had a conversation. Suddenly, the defendant drew a firearm and shot the victim multiple times, resulting in his death. The defendant then turned and shot a second employee, a woman, in the legs before fleeing the scene.

The injured employee was transported to a local hospital, where investigators interviewed her. She identified the defendant as the shooter, stating that he was the son of the woman involved in the earlier altercation with the victim. When presented with a six-person photo lineup, the victim immediately and without hesitation selected the defendant’s photograph as the person who shot her and the victim.

The defendant’s arrest was made possible through diligent investigative work by law enforcement. The victim’s identification played a crucial role in linking the man to the crime. Additionally, his prior criminal history, including a 2017 robbery conviction, was considered during the investigation. This prior conviction may have influenced the severity of the charges filed against him.

As of now, he remains incarcerated in the county jail without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, where he will face the charges related to the shooting incident. The legal proceedings will determine the outcome of the case, including whether he will be convicted on the charges of first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and using a firearm with intent to commit a felony.
