Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga Police Department officers from the evening shift recently visited Foundation Academy & Preschool as part of a “front porch lineup” community engagement event aimed at strengthening relationships between law enforcement and local children.

According to the Chattanooga Police Department, officers spent time at the preschool interacting with students, answering questions, and discussing their roles in serving the community. The visit focused on familiarizing young children with police officers in a positive and approachable environment while giving officers an opportunity to engage directly with the students.

During the event, children at Foundation Academy & Preschool welcomed the officers with drawings, coffee, and donuts. Officers spent time speaking with the children about their daily responsibilities and explaining how police work helps maintain safety in the community. The department noted that the interaction allowed for open conversation and a chance for children to learn more about law enforcement in a friendly setting.

The Chattanooga Police Department said the visit was part of its ongoing front porch lineup program, which is designed to encourage informal community connections and promote trust between officers and residents. The program allows officers to visit schools, neighborhoods, and community organizations upon request to engage in positive, non-enforcement interactions.

Officials emphasized that events like these are intended to build familiarity between children and police officers at an early age, helping to create positive impressions and encourage future community relationships. Officers also used the opportunity to answer questions from students, many of whom were curious about police equipment, daily duties, and emergency response situations.

The department expressed appreciation to Foundation Academy & Preschool for hosting the visit and for welcoming officers into the classroom setting. Police officials said community engagement remains a key part of their public safety strategy and that interactions with young students are especially valuable in building long-term trust.

The Chattanooga Police Department encouraged other schools and organizations interested in hosting a front porch lineup to learn more through the department’s community outreach channels.
