Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga Fire Department Fire Academy cadets recently completed intensive Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) training designed to prepare future firefighters for situations involving the rescue of firefighters in distress.

The department said the training focused on developing hands-on skills needed during emergency operations, including locating victims, managing air supply, removing downed firefighters, and coordinating rescue efforts.

Throughout the week-long training, cadets participated in challenging scenarios that tested both their physical abilities and decision-making skills. The department said the exercises emphasized the importance of preparation, discipline, and teamwork during high-pressure situations.

Rapid Intervention Team training is designed to ensure firefighters are prepared to quickly respond when a fellow firefighter becomes trapped, injured, or unable to exit a dangerous environment on their own.

The Chattanooga Fire Department thanked the instructors who helped lead the training and prepare the cadets for future service.

Officials said the dedication and expertise of the instructors played an important role in helping develop the next generation of firefighters and strengthening the department’s ability to protect the community.

The department highlighted that successful emergency operations rely on strong teamwork and continued training to ensure crews are ready when critical situations occur.
