CFD announces promotion to captain highlighting extensive training and leadership contributions
Chattanooga, TN – The Chattanooga Fire Department announced the promotion of Preston Binegar to captain, highlighting his extensive contributions to the department and the fire service.
According to the department, Captain Binegar has played a key role in training both recruits and current firefighters. He oversees physical training and provides instruction in forcible entry, fire ground survival, rapid intervention, rope rescue, and extrication.
He also serves on the department’s PPE committee, assisting with equipment evaluations to ensure firefighters have the best possible gear.
Captain Binegar’s influence extends beyond Chattanooga. He serves as an instructor with the Tennessee Fire Academy in Bell Buckle, where he trains firefighters from across the state.
He also teaches with Georgia F.L.A.M.E.S. and contributes to the Georgia Smoke Diver course.
Fire Chief Terry Knowles praised Captain Binegar’s dedication, noting that his work has strengthened both the department and the wider fire service. The chief commended his leadership and expressed confidence in the continued impact of his career.
