CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A Chattanooga City Councilman says the city’s Police Advisory Committee doesn’t have enough power to discipline officers who violate policies.
Now, Councilman Anthony Byrd is requesting “more teeth” be added to the board, which was created last year.
We also discovered that board has been stagnant since it was created. When NewsChannel 9 requested the number of incidents the board had reviewed up to this point, the city responded saying, “The Committee has not yet begun to hear cases due to different requirements and the current health pandemic.”
