Chattanooga Fire Department responds to house fire in St. Elmo, no injuries reported
Chattanooga, TN – On Sunday morning, April 27, 2025, at approximately 11:54 AM, the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a reported house fire in the 1700 block of W 39th Street in St. Elmo.
Multiple callers had alerted 911 after noticing smoke and flames coming from the structure. Firefighters from Green Shift arrived on the scene and immediately initiated an aggressive attack on the fire.
Upon arrival, responding units could see smoke, and the fire was quickly brought under control, with the fire officially extinguished by 12:20 PM.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, but one individual was displaced by the damage. The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical issue, and the incident is being treated as accidental.
The Chattanooga Fire Department was assisted by the Red Bank Fire Department, which filled in at Station 1 during the response. Several units were involved in the response, including Engine 14, Engine 1, Ladder 1, Engine 3, Squad 13, Battalion 1, and Battalion 3.
The fire investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause, but officials stress that the quick response of the Chattanooga Fire Department prevented further damage or injury.
