Chattanooga Police join multi-state campaign to reduce deadly speeding crashes
Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga Police Department is partnering with law enforcement agencies from five other states, along with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office and Georgia GOHS, to launch Operation Southern Slow Down.
This speed enforcement campaign began recently and will run through July 20.
The initiative aims to address speeding, a major factor in traffic fatalities. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), speeding was involved in one out of every five traffic deaths in the Southeast between 2019 and 2023.
Chattanooga Police emphasized that highways and interstates are not places for reckless speeding and urged drivers to slow down to ensure safety for everyone on the road.
The coordinated campaign involves increased patrols and enforcement efforts across the participating states to reduce speeding-related crashes and save lives.
