Chattanooga, TN – An elderly man was rescued by Chattanooga firefighters after becoming trapped during a two-alarm apartment fire early Saturday morning at the Rosemont Apartments.

According to the Chattanooga Fire Department, Blue Shift companies were dispatched to the apartment complex on Glenwood Parkway at approximately 1:30 a.m. on July 5, 2026.

Ladder 5 was the first unit to arrive and found smoke and flames coming from a second-floor apartment.

Bystanders informed firefighters that a person was trapped inside the burning unit.

Firefighters entered the apartment and successfully rescued the elderly man, bringing him safely outside.

He complained of minor smoke inhalation and was evaluated by Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services at the scene. After being examined, he declined transportation to a hospital.

The Chattanooga Fire Department said crews arrived at 1:34 a.m. and brought the fire under control by 1:43 a.m. No additional injuries were reported.
