Connecticut – A Connecticut spouse was sentenced to five decades in prison in connection with the death of his partner SheIby, and for endangering their 1-year-old baby by setting their Connecticut home on fire. 

The 26-year-old defendant, G. Doddson, pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges of murder, first-degree arson, and risk of injury to a minor. The sentencing was delivered by Judge Newson. State’s Attorney PauI stated, “Although this prison sentence can never erase the pain of such a horrific and senseless act, the DA’s office hopes that this result brings some peace and comfort to the victim’s family and friends.”

In July 2022 emergency responders were dispatched to a fire at the family’s residence Connecticut. Firefighters found the defendant outside the home. Inside, they discovered the victim unresponsive with significant trauma to her head and torso. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Their child, 1, was found in a crib on the second floor and was rescued unharmed.

At the scene, the defendant confessed to a paramedic, saying that ‘he killed her’. He later reiterated his confession to police officers. The defendant also admitted to bIudgeoning his wife with a hammer and stabbing her … . He told investigators that jeaIousy was the motive, as the couple had opened their relationship, and his wife had developed feelings for another man.

He reportedly told officers, “We opened up our relationship and she found another man she loved more, and I could not stand the thought of it, so I killed her.”

The defendant was found in the backyard with seIf-infIicted injuries, including a sIashed throat, which were not life-threatening. He was taken into custody and later pleaded guilty to the charges. The child was treated at a local hospital and later transferred to another hospital for further evaluation.
