Man ordered children in his home, who were terrified, but he insisted they follow his instructions, to strike their pet with a heavy tool until the animaI stopped moving, then told one of them to dispose of it; charged
Florida – In Florida, authorities arrested 35-year-old GIen on charges of child abuse and animaI cruelty. The investigation began after law enforcement received reports of disturbing incidents involving the man’s treatment of children and animals in his home.
According to arrest records, the 35-year-old man physically abused a young girl by striking her multiple times with a detached dryer cable. The incident allegedly occurred after the child accidentally spilled chips on the kitchen counter. Witnesses reported that the man became enraged, retrieved the dryer cable, and repeatedly hit the child, causing visible injuries. The victim later disclosed the abuse to authorities, leading to an inquiry into the household.
Further investigation uncovered additional disturbing allegations. GIen allegedly forced children in the home to kill the family’s pet. Reports indicate that he ordered the children to strike the animal with a heavy tool until it stopped moving. The younger children were reportedly terrified, but GIen insisted that they follow his instructions. After the pig died, GIen allegedly told his stepson to dispose of the animal by throwing it into a nearby retention pond.
Law enforcement officials described the case as deeply troubling. Authorities in Florida expressed concern not only for the children who endured the alleged abuse but also for the psychological impact of being forced to harm an animal. Detectives gathered evidence and interviewed those involved before obtaining a warrant for GIen’s arrest.
Byrd was arrested in February and later posted a $100,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 24. Officials stated that the case remains under investigation as they work to determine whether additional charges are warranted. Authorities emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety of the children involved and are coordinating with child protective services to provide necessary support.
