Tennessee AG’s Division of Consumer Affairs urges veterans and service members misled by Harris Jewelry to submit refund claims before the December 21, 2024 deadline
Chattanooga, TN – The Tennessee Attorney General’s Division of Consumer Affairs is urging veterans and service members who were misled by Harris Jewelry to submit their refund claims before the December 21, 2024 deadline.
Harris Jewelry was accused of violating the Services Business Act and the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act, resulting in a settlement with Tennessee on June 9, 2020. In 2022, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and other states also settled similar claims with the company, which included allegations of deceptive business practices targeting military families.
As part of these agreements, Harris Jewelry committed to refunding consumers who signed retail installment contracts with a Lifetime Jewelry and Watch Protection Plan (“JWPP”) between January 1, 2014, and July 20, 2022. Eligible consumers are entitled to a full refund of any JWPP purchases.
While some refunds have already been issued, many eligible individuals were unable to file claims due to the premature closure of the company’s restitution portal. Following a court order, the portal was reopened to allow all eligible claimants to file for restitution, but this opportunity is nearing its end.
The Division of Consumer Affairs is particularly urging veterans and service members in Tennessee, especially in the Montgomery County and Fort Campbell areas, to file their claims by the December 21 deadline.
For more information or to file a claim, visit the restitution portal provided in the settlement documents or contact the Tennessee Attorney General’s Division of Consumer Affairs.
