Tennessee – The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation will host a mobile household hazardous waste collection service on Saturday, May 3, 2025, offering an important opportunity for residents in Fayette, Unicoi, and Williamson Counties to safely dispose of hazardous materials. The service will be available at designated locations throughout these counties from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., providing an accessible way for Tennesseans to dispose of items like cleaning fluids, pesticides, and swimming pool chemicals.

This event is open to all residents, regardless of which county they reside in. The goal of the collection service is to provide a safe and convenient method for Tennesseans to discard household hazardous waste, helping to protect the environment and public health.

TDEC Commissioner David Salyers praised the initiative, stating, “This collection service provides an excellent way to responsibly dispose of household hazardous waste, and we want to make it as convenient as possible. We welcome all Tennesseans to take advantage of this opportunity to show their commitment to environmental protection.”

The service will be available at three locations on May 3:

In Fayette County, the collection service will take place at the Fayette County Landfill, located at 11675 Hwy. 76 S. in Somerville. The drop-off will be available from 8 a.m. to noon. For more information, residents can contact Terry Chambers at (901) 465-5230.
