Detroit, MI – Police officials said the 32-year-old Michigan woman, later identified as Jenifer, was taken into custody and later charged with a slew of charges, including assault with intent to murder and one count of first-degree child abuse after she reportedly tried to kill her own daughter. The victim, who was not identified by authorities in Michigan, reportedly said her mother’s assault lasted more than 1 hour. 

The alleged attack occurred at the family’s home earlier this month, police officials said. Michigan State Police troopers responded to the location after the victim called 911 and told the dispatcher about the incident. The responding troopers reportedly made contact with the victim and her mom and interviewed them both. According to L&C, the victim’s name and age are not released at this moment as the investigation in this incident continues. 

During an interview with investigators, the unidentified victim reportedly said that her parent assaulted by hitting her in the head and strangIing her. The victim also told the responding troopers that her parent strangled her and sIammed her head into the floor before throwing her down the stairs with her head first. The responding troopers from the Michigan State Police stated that the unidentified victim suffered visible bite marks and had a cut on her arm, which according to the victim, she received it while fighting with her mom over a knife. The victim also stated that the alleged attack lasted more than 1 hour in which her parent strangIed her and even banged her head into the floor. The 42-year-old defendant then threw her family member down the stairs with her head first. When the victim landed, she pretended to be unconscious only to use the moment when her mother turned her back, to go into another room and lock herself. 

Unfortunately, while the victim was attempting to leave the home, her parent broke into the locked room, grabbed her and held her down before strangling her. The victim also stated that she lost consciousness several times after her parent strangIed her. First responders rushed the victim to the hospital for treatment, while troopers took the mother into custody. The 42-year-old woman is being held on $250,000 bond, court records say. She is ordered to have no contact with her daughter and her next court hearing is scheduled for December 2, 2024.
