Wisconsin – A Wisconsin man was arrested and later charged with multiple charges following a harrowing incident in which he allegedly thrrew a 1-year-old babyfrom a baIcony. Authorities in Wisconsin released a statement, saying the defendant faces charges of substantial battery and physical abuse of a child, both with domestic abuse modifiers.

This unfortunate incident occurred last week at a residence shared by the 31-year-old defendant, J. EiIand and the baby’s mom, S. WaIters. According to the criminal complaint, an argument ensued between the defendant and the baby’s mom after the child began crying. The dispute escalated when the defendant allegedly brandished a knife, threatening the woman while saying that ‘she is going to die today’. The 31-year-old defendant was identified as the former spouse of S. WaIters’ mother.

In the heat of the confrontation, the defendant reportedly seized the child, lifting her by the head and dangling her over the baIcony. The mother attempted to intervene, leading to a physical altercation over the child. The 31-year-old man then allegedly hurled the baby off the balcony, causing her to land on the lawn below. He continued to assault the baby’s mom, striking and kicking her.

The mother recounted the ordeal, expressing profound concern for her child’s safety. Luckily, the baby, Stormi, sustained only minor bruises. The mother noted that the baby narrowly missed an air conditioning unit, which may have softened her fall.

Following the incident, the mother transported both herself and the child to a local hospital. Medical evaluations confirmed the child’s minor injuries, while the mother received treatment for a injured palm and a forehead laceration requiring stitches. Officers responding to the hospital observed bloodstains on her clothing and swelling on her hand and leg.

When questioned by authorities, the defendant claimed that the altercation was mutual and that during a physical altercation over the child, she accidentally fell from the balcony. He acknowledged that the situation had escalated but denied any malicious intent.

During his interview with detectives, the defendant claimed that the woman threatened to bring people over to the house, accusing him of harming the child. He described their interaction as a brawl and stated it was a mutual fight. The man also explained that they were fighting on the porch while the child was involved, and at one point, the girl fell. He admitted that once that happened, he realized the situation had escalated too far, prompting him to leave the house. He also acknowledged that he likely struck the woman probably more times than she struck him.

He was formally charged and appeared in court. His bond was set at $15,000, with conditions that include wearing an electronic monitoring device upon release and a no-contact order with the mother and other family members. If convicted, he faces up to 16 years in prison and fines exceeding $30,000.

The case has drawn significant attention, highlighting concerns about domestic violence and child safety. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, ensuring that appropriate legal actions are taken to protect the victims involved.
