Florida – A Florida parent was ordered to spend the next three decades in state prison after pleading guilty to aggravated mansIaughter of a chiId in connection with the death of his baby, WiIIow. The plea agreement led to the dismissal of additional charges, including aggravated child abuse and two counts of knowingly abusing a child without bodiIy harm.

The case began in February last year, when the parent, 23-year-old Jakob, brought his unresponsive 4-month-old child to the regional medical center in Florida. Medical staff observed that the baby had no brain activity and multiple suspicious injuries. She was airlifted to a pediatric intensive care unit, where doctors identified severe trauma, including a skuII fracture, ten broken ribs, brain hemorrhaging, and bruises. An autopsy confirmed that the baby died from blunt force trauma to the head and ruled her death a homicide.

During the investigation, the young parent initially told Florida authorities that after dropping off his wife at work, he played on his console and later went to a local store with the baby to purchase dinner ingredients. He claimed to have fed her upon returning home and found her unresponsive shortly after. However, surveillance footage from the store showed the defendant shopping alone, contradicting his statement. When confronted with this evidence, he ceased cooperation and made statements denying the reality of his wife and daughter.

An autopsy revealed the extent of baby’s devastating injuries, which included a fractured skuII, numerous bruises on her forehead, ten broken ribs, spinaI hemorrhaging, and multiple layers of brain bleeding, according to Florida authorities. Investigators believe the defendant caused the rib fractures by forcefully squeezing the infant. He also reportedly struck her forehead ten times and used a hard object to hit the back of her head.

Sheriff Jude described the crime as “vicious,” noting that the injuries indicated the baby had been beaten and squeezed to death. He emphasized the parent’s lack of remorse and emotion throughout the investigation. The defendant will receive credit for the 461 days he has already served in jail.
